Dentistry Locum Staffing is seeking an experienced Oral Surgeon (DDS/DMD) for a long-term, 3-year locum opportunity in Corpus Christi, Texas, beginning September 1, 2026.

This position provides consistent weekday coverage serving an adult patient population, including individuals with mental illness and intellectual disabilities.

The Oral Surgeon will provide comprehensive oral surgery services, including surgical extractions, sedation, anesthesia, treatment planning, and other procedures within the provider's authorized scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive oral examinations, evaluations, and consultations
  • Develop appropriate diagnoses and oral surgery treatment plans
  • Perform erupted and impacted tooth extractions
  • Surgically remove bony impacted teeth and residual root tips
  • Administer intravenous sedation and nitrous oxide
  • Provide anesthesia services within authorized Levels 1–4
  • Perform full-mouth debridement, scaling, and root planing when clinically required
  • Review patient medical histories and assess procedural and anesthesia risks
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Follow applicable infection-control and patient-safety standards
  • Collaborate with facility staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
  • Provide respectful, patient-centered care to individuals with diverse clinical and behavioral needs
  • Maintain a four-hour response time for requested service calls
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school
  • Completion of an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Texas dental license
  • Active DEA registration
  • Current BLS certification
  • Appropriate sedation and anesthesia permits
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant clinical experience
  • Demonstrated experience performing surgical extractions
  • Demonstrated experience administering sedation and anesthesia
  • Ability to provide anesthesia services within required and authorized levels
  • Experience working with adults with mental illness or intellectual disabilities preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to successfully complete required credentialing and onboarding
